Map My Mole Screening

Map My Mole screening is a medical assessment service designed to help identify skin lesions that may need further investigation. During your appointment, I examine any moles or skin lesions you’re concerned about using clinical assessment and high-quality medical imaging. These images are then reviewed by specialist dermatology consultants and you will receive a report within 48 hours.

This service is not a diagnosis of skin cancer, but it is a valuable way to identify which lesions are likely benign and which may need referral for further assessment. My role is to guide you through the process clearly and support you with next steps if anything looks concerning.

No – this is a screening and triage service, not a replacement for medical diagnosis or treatment by a dermatologist.

If the screening report suggests that a lesion needs further assessment, I will advise you clearly on the appropriate next steps, which may include seeing your GP or being referred to dermatology. If something looks concerning on clinical examination, I will also advise urgent medical review even before the report is returned.

My priority is making sure you’re supported and not left worrying or unsure about what to do next.

I recommend mole screening if you:

• Have a new or changing mole
• Have a mole that looks different from your others
• Have a personal or family history of skin cancer
• Have many moles and would like reassurance
• Have noticed bleeding, itching, or change in colour or size

If you’re ever unsure whether something is worth checking, it’s always better to be cautious. I’d much rather assess a benign lesion and reassure you than miss something that needs further attention.

After your appointment, the images and clinical information are reviewed by a dermatology consultant, and a report is generated with recommendations within 48 hours. I will explain the outcome to you and guide you through any next steps.

If the lesion is reported as likely benign, I’ll offer reassurance and advice on monitoring. If further assessment is recommended, I’ll help you understand the referral pathway and what to expect. You won’t be left on your own to figure it out.
