FAQs

Can lip filler help if I have a cleft lip or cleft lip repair?

Yes – in selected cases, lip filler can be used as part of a restorative approach after cleft lip repair to improve symmetry, contour, and balance. The aim is not to ‘perfect’ your lip, but to gently enhance shape and support areas that may lack volume or definition.

I take a very conservative approach and only recommend treatment if I believe it will genuinely improve harmony and function without compromising safety or natural movement.

Is it safe to have filler in an area that has had surgery or scarring?

Areas that have had previous surgery or scarring require extra care. Scar tissue can behave differently from normal tissue, and blood supply and anatomy may be altered.

I carry out a thorough assessment of your anatomy using ultrasound, and explore any previous surgical history before recommending treatment. If I feel that filler is not safe or appropriate in your case, I will explain this honestly and, if needed, advise alternative options or referral for specialist input.

What kind of results can I realistically expect?

Results are subtle and focused on improving balance and softness rather than creating a ‘perfect’ lip. My goal is to support how your lip looks at rest and in movement, without creating stiffness or obvious filler.

I’ll talk you through what’s realistically achievable with non-surgical treatment and what isn’t. Restorative work is about sensitive, thoughtful improvement – not dramatic change.

Will I need more than one treatment?

Often, yes. I usually prefer a staged approach, using small amounts of product over more than one session. This allows me to build symmetry gradually and safely, particularly in areas with scarring or altered anatomy.

This approach also gives you time to adjust to changes and make sure the result feels right for you. There’s never pressure to do everything in one go.
